The art of lip piercing can bring a strong tone to a beautiful face. Some of the more popular styles can be called bites – amongst many other ways to define them. The variety this art of lip piercing comes with makes it a fun and exciting area to explore the potential of!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nLip piercing is becoming a much more common thing with women\nespecially, but it doesn’t mean the healing process it simple. The\nintake of food, alcohol or cigarettes leaves pockets of bacteria in\nthe mouth and can sometimes extend to the lips. If a pierced lip is\nnot kept clean, it can get infected very easily. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New lip piercees\nmust always try to keep the piercing clean and dry as they heal to\navoid bacterial infections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average time for the total healing of lip piercing is ten weeks. Relief from swelling and pain will occur around the 5th or 6th week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe following steps will help encourage quick healing. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. After lip\npiercing, don\u2019t smoke or take alcohol for at least 9 hours. If you\ncan keep yourself away from alcohol and smoking for a longer time,\nthen that’s great. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Don’t use your\ntongue or teeth on it and avoid touching it especially with dirty\nhands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Clean your mouth\ntwice daily with salt water after using toothpaste. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nSingle lip piercing options<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tLabret: This is\nthe most common lip piercing mostly done by women. It is located\nbelow your lower lip, in the middle. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tMedusa: It is\njust like the labret but in an opposite position – local above the\nupper lip, also in the middle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tMonroe: Marilyn\nMonroe’s beauty mark birthed the name of this piercing. It is a\nsingle piercing found at the top left part of your upper lip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tMadonna: It is a\npiercing made at the opposite side of the Monroe – top right of your\nupper lip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tJestrum: Just\nlike a medusa, but pierced vertically. One end comes out of the\nnormal medusa piercing site, and the other end comes up through the\nactual lip and can be seen at the center of the lip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tHorizontal\nLabret: A piercing that runs a tunnel horizontally through your lower\nlip. The two ends of the piercing jewelry can be seen. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Vertical Labret: Similar to the jestrum but here the lower lip is pierced so that one end of the piercing jewelry comes out of the normal labret area while the other end comes out of the lower lip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bite piercings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tDahlia: The name\nDahlia is birthed from the Black Dahlia Murders. It is a piercing of\nthe two corners of the mouth with a labret stud. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tSnake Bites:\nNamed due to the apparent snake bit appearance. Bilateral\nprotuberance or rings below your lower lip on both sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tAngel Bites:\nSimilar to snake bites, but pierced above the upper lips. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tDolphin Bites:\nSeems just like labret but there are two studs below the lower lips,\nlying side by side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tSpider or Venom\nBites: The piercing consist of two holes made one side, placed below\nthe lower lip. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tShark Bites: A\nduplicated form of the spider bites. They are made on both sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\tCyber Bites:\nThis is an exciting combination of a medusa piercing and a labret\npiercing. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
